Brenden Grove, JIPF Executive Editor

Welcome to the Journal of the IPF, the perforating industry’s premier journal featuring peer-reviewed technical articles and more!

Here, you can access all published issues from our growing library, and submit full-length technical articles for peer review and publication consideration in future issues.

Please enjoy this members-only content, and don’t hesitate to share your feedback at journal@perforators.org.

All submitted articles undergo a rigorous peer review process before acceptance and publication, article submission link below.

Since our inaugural issue in 2016, our primary goal has been to publish high quality, detailed, technical articles relevant to the science of oil and gas industry perforating.  This is the foundation upon which the JIPF is built.

As a technical and scientific journal, the JIPF will adhere to academic journal rules. Although any topic under the broad category of oilwell perforating science and technology is welcome, typical categories include:

Dynamics of guns – Dynamic UB/OB/Gun Shock/modelling
Charge and gun design
Well flow modelling for charge performance
Charge testing for charge performance and flow and API testing in general
The performance and characteristics of explosives
Thermal decomposition – time/temperature – safety and performance of charges and explosive components.
Initiation systems, DIDs and other devices including ballistic transfers
Gun and charge materials, survivability, swell etc.

Other topics – such as field trials, case studies, or new product and service promotions – should NOT be submitted for peer review. While the JIPF may have other sections better suited for such content, peer-reviewed articles are strictly limited to substantive scientific and technical advances.

Does your work push the boundaries of perforating science and technology?

Would you like to share your recent advances directly with interested perforating practitioners around the world?

Do you believe that the peer-review process enhances the credibility and distinction of published work?

If you answered “yes”, then you’ll want to submit your article for publication consideration in the Journal of the IPF. All submitted articles undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure a high standard technical Journal.
